- Free initial consultation and tours of the birth centre. Upon receiving an enquiry, a free initial consultation is available to everyone with a qualified midwife. The Midwife takes the time to talk and listen to the couple about their history, what their needs are and discusses the options available to them, so they can make an informed choice. The couple will also be given a tour of the birth centre and answer any questions the couple may have. If requested the initial consultation can also be facilitated at the couple's home.
- Disabled facilities: tailor made facilities to accommodate all. We have a birth room with en-suite facilities on the ground floor suitable for those with any disabilities.
- Interpreting service available: we will provide an interpreter as and when the service is required.
- Antenatal classes: clients who have booked midwifery services receive antenatal classes as part of their package. This can be either on a one to one basis with their named midwife or in a group. Antenatal classes are available to all within the community, but there is a fee attached for non-midwifery clients. The classes are held at the birth centre and run by a qualified midwife.
- At the centre clients have their own homely room complete with birthing pool and en-suite facilities. There is a comfortable sofa bed for them to rest on and we have a wide range of bean bags and birth balls readily available to help them through their labour. Ambient lighting and a full music system helps ensure that clients can create a mood best suited to their needs.
- Pain relief: we offer water births, hypnosis for pregnancy & childbirth and entonox (gas and air). If a client wishes for an epidural that would need to be facilitated in a hospital setting, we would transfer our client into hospital and continue to support her.
- Midwifery-led unit - our birth centre is a completely independent midwifery-led unit. We risk assess each and every client and will provide the care appropriate to their needs. Some clients may require a 'joint care' service between their named midwife and a consultant overseeing them; this is managed through the excellent working relationships we have with the local hospitals; it does not automatically rule out their birth choices and we would continue with the consultant to assess the level of risk as the pregnancy progressed.
- postnatal visiting times etc: The centre has been designed to provide an intimate, comfortable and safe sanctuary where a lady can labour privately with the support of their birth partner(s) and a midwife with whom you have established a trusting relationship. If a baby is born at the birth centre we will aim to discharge the client to enable them to return to the comfort of their own home as soon as possible. There are no restrictions on numbers of visitors while at the centre or the times for visiting. Partners are encouraged to stay and allow the new family to rest and bond together.
- Buses and trains: there is a bus stop outside the birth centre and trains run regularly to Northwich, Greenbank and Hartford. There is a free car park behind the birth centre and on road parking to the front of the birth centre.
- More information can be found at their website.
