England and Wales

For a birth taking place within the last 12 months

For a birth registered within the last 12 months, applications for certificates should be made to the Register Office local to the place where the birth took place. For a list of Register Offices in England and Wales visit the Genuki website.

For less recent births

You can obtain certificates of birth, marriages and deaths in any of the following ways:

• In person from the Family Records Centre (FRC)
• By Post, telephone or fax from the General Register Office in Southport
• Locally from the register office where the event was originally registered (see above)
• By ordering online
